The Injuries & Special Populations course bridges the gap between Pilates and rehabilitation, giving instructors the knowledge to work safely with post-rehabilitation clients and special populations.

You will explore screening, movement biomechanics and common injuries, while developing the skills to assess, modify and progress exercises with confidence.

Who is this Course For?

This course is suitable for STOTT PILATES® trained instructors who want to deepen their understanding of post-rehabilitation programming and working with special populations.

It is ideal for instructors looking to build confidence in adapting exercises for clients with injuries, movement limitations, pregnancy or osteoporosis.


WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • The Pilates instructor’s role within the rehabilitation spectrum, with a focus on prevention and post-rehabilitation

  • Industry screening standards for safe and effective programming

  • Biomechanics of movement, including optimal and dysfunctional movement patterns

  • Common musculoskeletal injuries and dysfunctions affecting the spine, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle and wrist

  • Special population considerations, including pregnancy and osteoporosis

  • Exercise adaptations across Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels

  • How to assess and modify Pilates exercises for clients with a range of movement abilities

  • Safe and effective progression strategies for clients recovering from injury

  • Clear cueing and communication techniques when working with special populations

COURSE STRUCTURE

  • One-day, six-hour in-person training at Sole Pilates, Deddington

  • Course fee must be paid at the time of booking

  • Practical application across all major Pilates equipment

  • Focused, intensive learning designed to build clinical reasoning and programming confidence

Entry Requirements

Students must have completed at least one of the following:

  • Intensive Mat-Plus™ (IMP)

  • Intensive Reformer (IR)

  • Comprehensive Matwork & Reformer (CMR)
